National stage of the online Olympiad “Solar Regatta” has been completed

On June 10, the online olympiad stage of “Solar Regatta” was been held.  18 teams of 5-11 grades schoolchildren from different cities of Russia took part in the Olympiad. The program of the Olympiad included three competition stages: a quiz, a brain-ring and a captain’s competition.

The quiz included 15 topics in the fields of renewable energy, maritime shipping, geography and even biology. In the “Brain-Ring” competition, the questions were formed by the teams themselves, so, the guys had the opportunity to demonstrate not only the ability to answer, but also to formulate questions. Educational program for design of vessels using renewable energy

The SSU has developed an educational program for advanced training for the ANO “National Center for Engineering Competitions and Competitions”: “The Theory of Design of Vessels Using Alternative (Renewable) Sources of Energy”, Portnews reported.

On September 20-30 an approbation of this program of additional professional education was carried out in the educational and laboratory complex of REC “Center for Marine Research and Technologies”. 12 students took part (the direction of training is the design and construction of vessels and oceanic equipment ships). The program plan is designed for 72 academic hours. Classes were held in full-time for 9 days for 8 academic hours.

Float Wave Electric Power Station

The project concerns the development of Float Wave Electric Power Station (FWEPS) as an installation for sea wave energy conversion to electricity with high productivity, efficiency and operation performance, applicable to meet a power requirement in different areas of the Earth; production and sale of single and multimodule FWEPS as well as electricity produced.

The module of FWEPS is an oblong axisymmetrical capsule-float which is located on the sea surface.  Inside the capsule there is a mechanical wave energy converter, consisting of an oscillatory system and drive, and an electric generator and energy accumulator. Under the wave effect the capsule-float and inner oscillatory system of the mechanical converter are in continuous oscillatory motion, while the drive engaged with the system provides a continuous turn for the electric generator. Prototype of a marine power complex “Diving wing” using the energy of underwater currents

The project focused on the implementation of the road map Marinette to develop the energy resources of the ocean. In ocean currents (surface and deep) are concentrated huge reserves of kinetic energy (about 7.2 – 1012 kWh/year) that can be converted into electricity. The development of only 0.1% of the energy potential of the ocean can provide energy for 15 billion people. The entire area of the World ocean cross currents having different directions and speeds.

There are a large number of oceanic currents with flow rates from 0.4 to 1 m/s, which modern developers gidroenergostroy not even considered, as it is believed that the use of energy data trends are not yet commercially profitable, as at the present time there are no technical solutions for efficient energy conversion low flow velocities. At these low velocities the use of traditional transducers kinetic energy of the flow of water in a mechanical – hydraulic turbines – is ineffective. (more…)

An intellectual dynamic map of the world ocean renewable energy

The main idea of the project is to create information service directly linking suppliers and consumers of renewable energy technologies of the World Ocean. To implement this service, a system will be created that will combine information of different types of the World Ocean energy, technologies and devices for its production, as well as accompanying supporting documentation on legal, technological and economic aspects of creating projects for renewable energy of the World Ocean.
