“Glideron” multifunctional drone has been tested in practice in Samara

Developers from Samara tested a multi-purpose drone “Glideron”, which inspected the underwater part of the railway bridge across the Sok River, according to Interfax.

In the fall of 2017, specialists from the Samara State Technical University (SSTU) together with the Talisman Design Bureau and the Setecentric Platforms NPC began to create a vehicle for operational monitoring of water areas and coastal territory. Its uniqueness in combining of different functionality into a single design: the simultaneous use of technical features of surface and underwater gliders to solve problems of hydrology, hydrography, hydrophysics. The vehicle is able to walk in semi-submersible and underwater mode automatically on the specified route and depth. Competition for sustainable ocean development projects is open for application

The Skolkovo Foundation in partnership with the “Marine Innovations” company is launching a project competition “UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 14 – Conservation of Marine Ecosystems” for companies and teams specializing in artificial intelligence technologies in the maritime industry.

29 applications are supported during the UMNIC contest final

On December 21, JSC “United Shipbuilding Corporation” traditionally hosted the final selection of the UMNIC program in the MARINET areas. The UMNIC program of the Fund for the Promotion of Innovation is aimed at supporting commercially oriented scientific and technical projects of young researchers. Within the program, the Foundation provides grants for scientific research carried out by specialists aged 18 to 30 years.

This year, over 60 applications from more than 10 regions were submitted to the correspondence stage of the competition, 40 of them were selected for the final competition stage.

According to the results of the research projects presentations, 29 applications are supported by the jury. The juri includes experts of MARINET, JSC “USC”, the Fund for the Promotion of Innovation and NTI. (more…)

Russia announced a series of projects in the field of unmanned navigation

In the framework of the international exhibition SMM in Hamburg,  MARINET hosted the international conference dedicated to the most promising technologies for the maritime industry, which was attended by companies and research centers from different countries of the world.

The conference program included panel discussions on digital navigation and unmanned vessels, as well as a pitch session on the marine robotics.

During the conference, Alexey Donskoy, Director of Engineering Center of Shipbuilding (ECS) told about the successful creation of unmanned boats by SPE AME and the conversion of the developed technologies for the civil shipbuilding. ECS in cooperation with AME plans to start in 2018 and 2019 a number of pilot projects to test autonomous and remote control vessels: sea/river bulk cargo ship, a small-tonnage tanker,  a ferry and an icebreaker.

Results of MARINET projects selection within the FPI programs are announced

The Foundation for Promotion of Innovations has completed the selection of MARINET projects within the framework of the programs of  “Development-NTI” and “Start-NTI”. The competition committee of the “Development-NTI” program and the jury of the “Start-NTI” contest supported, respectively, 18 and 6 applications.

This year the most of the R&D projects supported within the “Development-NTI” program are in the field of technologies for the ocean resources development – the means for exploration and monitoring of marine resources, as well as maritime robotics. They inlcude the Unmanned platform for performing hydrographic works, Robotic Search and Rescue System, Marine unmanned robotic device for geological and geophysical data collection, Multifunctional hydroacoustic scanner, Marine magnetic gradiometer and magnetometer, Multichannel electroprospecting streamer for marine engineering surveys and others. MARINET Conference at the International Far Eastern Maritime Show

On July 28, 2018 in Vladivistok (Russky Island) MARINET is hosting the International Conference within the International Far Eastern Maritime Show. The conference is dedicated to the international cooperation and promotion of high technologies for the maritime industry, development of links between high tech companies, scientific and educational centers of Asia Pacific region as well as other countries.

The conference will be open at 10:00 in the Morskoy ConferenceRoom (the building B of the International Far Eastern Maritime Show). Registration is open from 9:00.

MARINET Meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, May 17

May 17, 2018 in Nizhny Novgorod the MARINET will arrange its next meeting.  The meeting will be open at 12:00 in the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R.E. Alekseev at the address: 24 Minin street, Nizhny Novgorod (Conference Hall of the Academic Council of the NSTU).

This is the second MARINET meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, it is held on the initiative of the Privolzhsky project office of MARINET. Therefore, special attention will be paid to the regional topics: regional projects, as well as cooperation within the framework of the Nizhny Novgorod shipbuilding cluster and the establishment of the MARINET Caspian Center.

Also, the participants of the meeting will be able to visit “Akvarobofest”, the open city competition on robotic water games organized by the Nizhny Novgorod Children’s River Shipping Company on the same day at the NSTU.

Over 40 applications are submitted for the UMNIC final

The UMNIC program of the Fund for the Promotion of Innovation is aimed at supporting commercially oriented scientific and technical projects of young researchers, for the second year it has been conducted for the MARINET areas.

Within the program, the Foundation provides grants for scientific research carried out by specialists aged 18 to 30 years.

This year, about 70 applications for various directions of the Marinet road map were submitted to the correspondence stage of the competition, over 40 of them were submitted for the final selection stage.

Marine Multipurpose Unmanned Platform

The platform is a composite autonomous vessel intended for the collection and transmission of information. It is driven by wind power through the installation of a rigid sail-wing, as well as for accurate positioning will be equipped with azipod systems with brushless electric motors. The installation of solar panels and wind generators for charging the batteries and supplying the “azipod” system is envisaged in order to stabilize and position the drone on the water surface.
