The 2025 Solar Regatta engineering competition in Nizhny Novgorod

On August 30, a spectacular event took place on the waters of Nizhny Novgorod: the “Solar Regatta 2025” engineering competition. The project serves as a catalyst for technological breakthroughs, uniting science, education, and real-world production to create the eco-friendly transport of the future. Through the practical implementation of innovations, we are shaping a new generation of specialists capable of changing the energy landscape of Russia and the world.

The event brought together 11 school teams, who demonstrated unique developments—boats powered entirely by solar energy.

The competition included three main stages:
— Speed ​​race: testing the capabilities of solar panels and electric motors.

— Obstacle course: testing maneuverability and precision control.

— Endurance marathon: testing the reliability of structures and the efficiency of energy systems.

The participants demonstrated not only technical expertise but also a new approach to solving the problems of eco-mobility. Each boat was a unique project, created by the students themselves.
The Solar Regatta is becoming a traditional venue for:
— Developing young engineering talent
— Promoting environmentally friendly technologies
— Creating a community of alternative energy specialists

Simulator for remote operators of inland water autonomous vessel presented


In 2023, MARINET together with industrial partner NPK Systems and Technologies, developed draft national standards GOST R “Operator simulator for an autonomous inland water merchant vessel. Terms and definitions” and GOST R “Operator simulator for an autonomous inland water merchant vessel” and a prototype of the simulator for remote operators of inland water autonomous vessel “ASM – 2023”. The final stage of “UMNIK-MARINET” has been held from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad

On December 22 and 23, the final stage of the “UMNIK-MARINET” competition, organized by the Foundation for Support of Innovations (FSI) in cooperation with MARINET, was completed. Students, young scientists, entrepreneurs and employees of high-tech companies aged 18 to 30, took part in the competition. The winners of the “UMNIK-MARINET” competition will receive a grant of 500 thousand rubles.

Applications for research in priority areas of MARINET include new technologies and materials for shipbuilding, marine robotics, e-Navigation technology, underwater sensors and underwater exploration technologies, marine biotechnology, solutions for ensuring environmental safety, new technologies for training personnel for the maritime industry and others. Young researchers from all over the country took part in the competition: from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad, from Ufa to Taganrog. Traditionally, many applications were submitted by participants from the maritime capital of Russia, St. Petersburg. (more…)

Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime University will train specialists in a-Navigation

18 декабря в Южно-Сахалинске под патронатом губернатора Валерия Лимаренко два ведущих вуза Дальнего Востока в области морских технологий – Морской государственный университет имени адмирала Г.И. Невельского и Сахалинский государственный университет – и судоходная компания «Морспецсервис» подписали соглашение подготовке специалистов автономной навигации (a-Навигации).

Соглашение предусматривает разработку программ обучения и подготовку специалистов по а-Навигации, начиная, с 2021 года, в том числе практические занятия на автономных судах «Морспецсервиса». (more…)

“Russia – the country of sailors of the XXI century” has opened classes

On October 1, Marine Center of Captain Varukhin (in Velikiy Novgorod) opens new classes as a part of the project “Russia – the country of sailors of the XXI century.” It was launched last year with support of NTI and MARINET; under the project the Marine Center was equipped with modern simulators and navigation equipment on training ships.

About 200 children from Mari El, Karelia, Arkhangelsk, Yaroslavl, Novosibirsk, Tambov, Kostroma, Vologda, Novgorod regions as well as St. Petersburg entered the first stage of the Ship Operator program. 145 attendees of clubs of young sailors from five regions, who started training last year, passed to the second stage.

MARINET on-site project education session has opened in Nizhny Novgorod

On September 7, a two-week MARINET project session for schoolchildren has opened in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The session is organized by the Center for the Development of Creativity of Children and Youth of the Nizhny Novgorod Region together with Nizhny Novgorod Children’s River Shipping Company in the format of intensive training sessions for schoolchildren under the programs “Ship modeling” and “Marine robotics”.

Program Manager – Dyakov Vladimir Ivanovich, Director of Nizhny Novgorod Children’s River Shipping Company. The camp participants will be 50 schoolchildren of the Nizhny Novgorod region who have passed the competitive selection (presentation of the portfolio, presentation and defense of the project).

Applications for the competition “UMNIK-Marinet” for young scientists is open

The Foundation for Support of Innovations and MARINET announces the opening of accepting applications for the UMNIK-Marinet competition. Students, graduate students, young scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs and employees of high-tech companies aged 18 to 30 can take part in the competition. The winners of the “UMNIK-Marinet” competition will receive a grant of 500 thousand rubles for two years.

National stage of the online Olympiad “Solar Regatta” has been completed

On June 10, the online olympiad stage of “Solar Regatta” was been held.  18 teams of 5-11 grades schoolchildren from different cities of Russia took part in the Olympiad. The program of the Olympiad included three competition stages: a quiz, a brain-ring and a captain’s competition.

The quiz included 15 topics in the fields of renewable energy, maritime shipping, geography and even biology. In the “Brain-Ring” competition, the questions were formed by the teams themselves, so, the guys had the opportunity to demonstrate not only the ability to answer, but also to formulate questions. Summer 2019: MARINET opens a series of educational events for schoolchildren

The summer of 2019 is becoming one of the most active educational events for schoolchildren by MARINET.

On June 10-28 the first project camp of MARINET was held on the basis of the Skolkovo Innovation Center (Moscow region), on June 27-30 the engineering competition “Solar Regatta” took place in Kazan, including new class of unmanned models on solar batteries.

On July 1, the “Big Challenges” session began in the “Sirius” educational center in Sochi, where MARINET traditionally organizes track “World Ocean and the Arctic Development”. And at the same time the session “The Sea – the Vector of the Future” was started for young navigators from Russia and Canada in the Children’s Center “Orlyonok”. (more…)

29 applications are supported during the UMNIC contest final

On December 21, JSC “United Shipbuilding Corporation” traditionally hosted the final selection of the UMNIC program in the MARINET areas. The UMNIC program of the Fund for the Promotion of Innovation is aimed at supporting commercially oriented scientific and technical projects of young researchers. Within the program, the Foundation provides grants for scientific research carried out by specialists aged 18 to 30 years.

This year, over 60 applications from more than 10 regions were submitted to the correspondence stage of the competition, 40 of them were selected for the final competition stage.

According to the results of the research projects presentations, 29 applications are supported by the jury. The juri includes experts of MARINET, JSC “USC”, the Fund for the Promotion of Innovation and NTI. (more…)
