MARINET launches the new expert group for the Human Resource Development

New MARINET expert group is established during the MARINET Meeting and regional conference in Tomsk which were held as a part of Young Scientists Forum U-NOVUS (May 18). New expert group will work on educational projects selection and support, talents attraction and development in the maritime industry.

“There is a clear connection between the most promising segments of the marine industry represented by MARINET and the development of educational technologies,” said MARINET Leader, Sergei Generalov. – On the one hand, new directions will require personnel with significantly different, new skills and knowledge. On the other hand, the perspective directions of MARINET can serve as targets for the training centers and universities””

Given the theme of the U-NOVUS forum and its audience, the traditional agenda of the MARINET Meeting was complemented by the question of the establishement of a new expert group in the field of Human Resource Development, education and attracting talents in the maritime industry. The participants of the meeting noted that the most effective approach in this area will be cooperation of universities, educational centers and business around specific educational projects and project training in general.

Two MARINET projects in this direction have already been started implementing: the Distance Learning Platform for fleet personnel and the Engineering Competitions “Solar Regatta”. Also several educational projects have been approved by MARINETT already: Engineering competitions in underwater robotics (Nevelskoy MSU), Creation of a laboratory “Geoatel” for schoolchildren (SCANEX), educational project “Digital Sextant” (Admiral Makarov State University). At the meeting in Tomsk the new educational  project was approved – “Pioneer-M” (unmanned ship).

Developemt of the HRD expert group was entrusted to Vladimir Volkogon, rector of the Kaliningrad State Technical University, and Sergei Baryshnikov, rector of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping.
